TDHS International Midwives Day

Celebrating International Day of the Midwives | 5 May

Midwives are celebrated around the world on May 5th, in recognition of the wonderful
people who bring new life into the world and support our women and children. This year
the celebration highlights “100 years of progress” and advocates for investment in quality
midwifery care around the world. This includes improving sexual, reproductive, maternal,
newborn, child, and adolescent health.

Timboon and District Healthcare Service (TDHS) would like to acknowledge and thank our
wonderful midwives for providing an invaluable service. Our midwives provide pre and post-natal care, supporting local mothers.

Midwives have supported women during childbirth since ancient Egyptian times. They are
often the first port of call. Midwives offer broad-ranging services from life-saving support to
supportive care that focuses on family planning, disease screenings, and more. It is this
important work that ensures women, children and families are healthy and happy.

We would like to recognise all midwives and thank them for their dedicated work. Midwives
are vital to women during pregnancy, childbirth, and early childhood. Thank you for all that
you do.
