The CFA provides a 4 Day forecast of Total Fire Bans & Fire Danger Ratings. Fire Danger Ratings tell you how dangerous a fire could be if one started. There are 4 levels of fire danger

  • (Green) Moderate – Plan and prepare
  • (Yellow) High – Be ready to act
  • (Orange) Extreme – Take action now to protect your life and property
  • (Red) Catastrophic – For your survival, leave bushfire risk areas

Fire Danger Ratings will be issued on days when there is a fire risk. Each fire danger rating will have a clear set of messages including the actions the community can take to reduce their risk. The rating is your trigger to take action to stay safe.

As well as to plan and prepare for fire, it’s also important you are aware that extreme heat can put your health at risk, so make sure you know how to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.

Extreme, Catastrophic or in some instances High Fire Danger Rating days could mean that TDHS might have to alter some of its services to ensure our staff and consumers are safe. Please be assured that you will be contacted by a TDHS staff member, if your service will be affected on the day. If you have any queries or concerns regarding your service at TDHS, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly Reception Team on 5558 6000.

TDHS is not a Bushfire Place of Last Resort. A ‘Bushfire Place of Last Resort’ also known as a ‘Neighbourhood Safer Place’ (NSP) is a place of last resort when all other bushfire plans have failed. Your safety or survival at one of these locations is not guaranteed. Please find a link to NSP’s within the Corangamite Shire.
